De plus, comme tous les animaux sauvages, ils peuvent constituer un risque
sanitaire pour les autres animaux sauvages et/ou domestiques, et dans certain cas pour l’espèce humaine. Malgré de nombreuses similitudes anatomiques, le lion d’Afrique et le tigre vivent sur deux continent différents, l’Afrique et l’Asie respectivement. Par conséquent, ces deux espèces en milieu naturel ne sont pas toujours exposées aux mêmes agents pathogènes, contrairement à la vie en captivité. Cependant, il arrive que des lions et des tigres vivant en captivité donc soumis à des agents pathogènes identiques ne soient pas atteints de la même manière. Ainsi, on peut supposer que les deux espèces présentent une différence de sensibilité. Notre travail de thèse consiste donc à comparer les pathologies du lion d’Afrique et du tigre, en milieu naturel et en captivité, et ainsi déterminer quels risques sanitaires ils peuvent représenter pour la santé animale etnpublique.
