La filière laitière autour des grandes villes subsahariennes est une filière jeune et dynamique qui fait face à une forte demande en produits laitiers. L’élevage laitier de Niamey, de type intensif traditionnel est confronté à des zoonoses majeures notamment la brucellose. La brucellose, de part son impact économique est une zoonose essentiellement caractérisée par des avortements chez l’animal et l’Homme. La contamination se fait généralement par contact avec des produits infectés ou par ingestion du lait cru. Ce présent travail a permis après avoir caractérisé le cheptel laitier, d’évaluer les risques de transmission et le profil épidémiologique de la brucellose dans le système d’élevage laitier urbain et périurbain de Niamey. Les enquêtes sur le terrain de 799 ménages ont révélé que l’élevage occupe une place importante dans les populations de toutes les couches sociales et groupes ethniques de Niamey. L’analyse des risques de transmission de la brucellose à l’homme et l’animal a que, le système d’élevage de type intensif notamment la conduite du troupeau et la consommation habituelle du lait non pasteurisé (89%) sont des facteurs principaux de la transmission et propagation de la brucellose. L’investigation menée sur la connaissance de la maladie révèle 29% d’avortements et 35% de fièvres chroniques dans les populations d’éleveurs. Par ailleurs, 50% et 6,34% de éleveurs reconnaissent avoir observé respectivement des avortements et d’orchites dans leurs cheptels. Les analyses du lait dans les troupeaux laitiers ont montré que sur 535 femelles en lactation, 89 sont reconnus brucelliques au Ring test, soit 16,63% de femelles à majorité âgées de plus de 7ans, dont 20,79% de vaches, 6,67% de brebis, 6,25% de caprins. Le profil épidémiologique du cheptel laitier de Niamey montre la présence de la brucellose. Par ailleurs, les analyses sérologiques de 3890 animaux ont révélé 7,06% taux de positivité au Rose Bengale dans les troupeaux dont 28,0% de bovins, 5,88% d’ovins, 7,4% de L’infection estaussi liée à l’âge, à l’espèce, au milieu et dans une oindre mesure au sexe. La brucellose a été détectée dans les cheptels de presque tous les sites (41 sur 43 sites) concernés. Il existe des relations humaines et animales étroites les milieux urbain, périurbain de Niamey et le milieu rural qui sont entre autres les transferts d’animaux, les mouvements sociaux (84% originaires du milieu rural) et les échanges commerciaux. Il ressort de cette étude que la prévalence est très élevéeen milieu rural (78%) et que ces rapports favorisent la propagation de la brucellose en milieux urbain et périurbain de Niamey. Compte tenue de ces résultats, une prise de conscience de l’importance de cette zoonose est nécessaire. Pour cela, une sensibilisation sur les facteurs de risque de transmission de cette maladie des producteurs et consommateurs est impérative. En outre, des mesures sanitaires et prophylactiques doivent être envisagées pour préserver la santé publique et animale dans les grandes villes. |
