En effet, l’absence de mesures de biosécurité peut entrainer de lourdes pertes pour les élevages en cas d’apparition de maladies contagieuses. Cette étude qui a porté sur 76 élevages visait à faire l’état des lieux des mesures de biosécurité dans les élevages de porcs confinés. Elle a consisté à administrer un questionnaire aux éleveurs de la zone urbaine et périurbaine d’Abidjan et s’est déroulée d’octobre à décembre 2013. Les données générales recueillies dans les exploitations ont montré que 6,6% des fermes appartenaient à 93,4% à des particuliers. Ces derniers étaient majoritairement des hommes (82,67%). L’élevage constituait la principale activité de 52,24% des éleveurs qui pour la plupart, soit 75% n’avaient reçu aucune formation en élevage. Aussi, dans 62,90% des fermes, les responsables n’avaient suivi aucune formation en élevage pour le suivi sanitaire, seules 8% des fermes faisaient appel aux docteurs vétérinaires. Dans la zone enquêtée, les élevages à 14,90% étaient des reprises d’anciens élevages en faillite. Les exploitations qui hébergeaient les élevages de porcs étaient à 29,30% des exploitations mixtes avec une prédominance des élevages de type naisseur-engraisseur. La quasi-totalité des bâtiments d’élevages (98,7%) étaient de type semi ouvert avec pour la plupart (96,00% des cas), un toit en tôle. Les porcs élevés, dans 93,42% des élevages, étaient de races métissées et l’effectif moyen a été de 269,45 têtes, L’analyse de la mise en place des mesures de bio-exclusion nous a montré que 85,20% des fermes étaient voisines d’autres fermes porcines et la distance les séparant était inférieure à 200m dans 75,40% des cas et 35,80% des fermes étaient situées à moins de 100m des habitations. Les fermes enquêtées étaient à 53,33% clôturées. Il existait des barrières à l’entrée de 37,5% mais seules 2,8% des exploitations possédaient des affiches d’interdictions d’entrée. La présence de pédiluves à l’entrée des bâtiments n’a été notée que dans 6,8% des fermes. Le dispositif de désinfection des véhicules à l’entrée des exploitations n’existe que dans 8,82% des fermes. Aux dires des éleveurs, dans 79,03% des fermes, les animaux entrant subissaient une quarantaine, mais qui durait moins de 4 semaines dans 50% des fermes. Les données sur les mesures de bio-confinement ont indiqué pour l’entretien des bâtiments d’élevage le même matériel était utilisé sans distinction pour toutes les catégories de porcs dans 83,80% des fermes et ce matériel après utilisation était simplement rincé avec de l’eau dans 25% des fermes. Le nettoyage des bâtiments d’élevage se faisait dans plus de la moitié (60,30%) des fermes 2 fois par jour et cela consistait surtout en un balayage et un rinçage à l’eau simple. La désinfection des loges quant à elle, dans la plupart des élevages (46,50%) se faisait avec de l’eau de javel ou du grésil. L’eau d’abreuvement des animaux subissait une désinfection dans 69,01% des élevages. Pour l’alimentation des animaux, 17,33% des fermes incorporaient des eaux grasses dans la composition de la ration et le mélange de l’aliment se faisait dans 65,10% des élevages sur le sol nu. Pour la gestion, 53,80% des fermes disposaient d’un cahier de suivi de l’élevage. La reproduction se faisait par monte naturelle dans 96,1% des fermes et la conduite en bandes se faisait dans 47,90% des élevages. Pour la gestion des déchets et cadavres, les résultats de l’enquête ont montré que les cadavres et déchet sont jetés directement dans la nature (33,70%) et les déchets, quant à eux, sont dans 44,40% des fermes jetés dans la nature Les pathologies les plus fréquemment observées dans les élevages étaient surtout les maladies diarrhéiques (80% des fermes). Les porcs sevrés étaient les plus atteints par ces pathologies. L’existence d’un programme de prophylaxie a été notée dans 64,80% des exploitations, mais seules 10% vaccinent leurs animaux contre la parvovirose. La présence de rongeurs a été signalée dans 85,14% des exploitations visitées et surtout dans le magasin de stockage des aliments (dans 66,22% des élevages). Pour lutter contre ces rongeurs, 32,26% de ces élevages utilisaient des chats. Cette enquête nous a permis de noter que les mesures de biosécurité sont appliquées dans très peu d’élevages. Pour remédier, à cela il faudra former et sensibiliser les éleveurs de porcs confinés sur l’application des mesures de biosécurité et les nombreux avantages qui en découlent et leur démontrer la nécessité d’associer des professionnels formés en élevage à la gestion sanitaire de leur élevage. Quant à l’Etat, il doit veiller au respect de ces mesures et mettre à la disposition des éleveurs un guide de bonne pratique des mesures de biosécurité et un accompagnement pour la mise à niveau des fermes car la santé des populations est tributaire de la santé des animaux qu’elles consomment.
