Après établissement d’une zone de capture géo référenciée et des fiches de prélèvement, la partie terrain consistant à la collecte d’échantillons a été réalisée dans trois (3) sites différents dont : le centre de primatologie du CIRMF, le programme de protection de gorille (PPG) et le parc de la LEKIEDI. La deuxième partie consacrée aux analyses de laboratoire par la technique de biologie moléculaire RT-PCR a été effectuée au Centre International de Recherches Médicales de Franceville (CIRMF). Elle a porté sur 386 prélèvements: 30 d’humains, 213 de rongeurs, 143 de primates non humains. Pour la recherche des Paramyxoviridae, les analyses ont été effectuées à partir des fèces et des échantillons de poumon et des écouvillons nasaux. Les résultats de RT-PCR ont révélé la présence des Paramyxoviridae du genre Avulavirus et du genre Rubulavirus dans cinq des échantillons analysés. Ces résultats qui montrent une circulation des Paramyxoviridae chez les humains et les primates non humains ; doivent être confirmés par séquençage et comparaison des séquences obtenues avec celles de la GenBank du site internet de la National Center for Biotechnology Informatique (NBCI). Cette étude préliminaire mérite d’être complétée par une autre portant sur une plus longue période avec un plus grand nombre d’échantillons et élargie à d’autres espèces animales.
