Elle affecte principalement les caprins, les ovins et les petits ruminants sauvages. Avec un taux de mortalité supérieur à 80%, elle est considérée comme l’une des maladies les plus dévastatrices des cheptels de petits ruminants. Ainsi le Sénégal s’est inscrit à la Stratégie mondiale pour le contrôle et l’éradication de la PPR et son élimination en 2030.
La présente étude a été menée de juillet à septembre 2019 à la Direction des services Vétérinaires (DSV) et Laboratoire National d’Elevage et de Recherches Vétérinaires (LNERV). Elle a pour objectif d’évaluer le statut immunitaire du cheptel de petits ruminants.
Ainsi, 19 588 sérums ont été collectés sur les 504 communes et transmis à(LNERV) par la (DSV). Cependant, après triage les analyses ont été effectuées sur 19 147 sérums.
La technique ELISA de compétition, nous a permis d’avoir un nombre de positif de 13 059 et par conséquent un taux de couverture immunitaire de 68,02%. Ce taux de couverture immunitaire est variable selon les régions. Les régions ayant enregistré les taux de couverture immunitaire les plus élevés sont celles de Kaolack, Tambacounda, Kolda, Fatick et Saint-Louis avec des taux respectifs de 78,65%, 74,84%, 73,44%, 72,92% et 71,07%. Les régions ayant les plus faibles taux de couverture immunitaire sont celles de Louga, Thiès, Ziguinchor avec respectivement 60,70%, 62,78% et 62,88% .Les paramètres tels que le sexe, et l’espèce et l’âge ont été analysés.
Au vue de ces résultats, nous recommandons aux acteurs de la santé animale de maintenir cette tendance en doublant d’effort en matière de vaccination.PRESIDENT DE JURY : M.
