Au Sénégal, la tuberculose fait partie des maladies les plus fréquemment signalées chez les humains. Elle constitue de ce fait un véritable problème de santé publique d’où son classement en 2ème rang parmi les 6 zoonoses prioritaires. L'objectif de cette étude était d'analyser les connaissances et pratiques du personnel d’abattoirs de Dakar et des éleveurs de la commune de Pout sur la tuberculose bovine. Au total, 274 personnes ont été enquêtées. Parmi les participants de l’étude, respectivement 103 (37,6%) et 171 (62,4%) provenaient des abattoirs et des élevages de Pout. Les enquêtés étaient majoritairement des hommes (75,2%) et âgés de 30 à 59 ans (67,5%). La majorité des enquêtés avait déjà entendu parler de la tuberculose (98,2%) et le potentiel zoonotique de la maladie était connu par 31,4% des participants. Dans l’ensemble, seulement 2,5% des participants (7/274) avaient un niveau satisfaisant de connaissances sur la maladie. Des différences significatives ont été constatées en fonction de la zone d’étude, l’expérience, l’activité mais également en fonction du niveau de bonnes pratiques (p<0,05). Aussi, les participants des abattoirs étaient 11 fois plus susceptibles de connaître la tuberculose que ceux des élevages (OR=11,22 ; IC à 95% =1,10-114,3). De même, ceux qui avaient entre 5 et 10 ans d’expérience avaient 16,91 fois plus de chance d’avoir un bon niveau de connaissances sur la tuberculose (OR=16,9 ; IC à 95%=1,7-163,46) comparés aux autres. En général, 83,6% des enquêtés préféraient le lait cru aux autres laits, et 83,6% consommaient de la viande peu cuite. Aussi, 29,6% des personnes interviewées avaient des bonnes pratiques avec des variations significatives en fonction de la zone d’étude, du genre, du statut matrimonial, de l’âge, de l’activité principale et du niveau de connaissance de la tuberculose (p <0,05). Enfin, seul l’âge a été identifié comme prédicteur d’adoption des bonnes pratiques (OR=3,3 ; IC à 95%= 1,3-8,3 ; p=0,009). |
