Mais de façon spécifique, il consistait à évaluer l’efficacité du chlorure d’isométamidium (Veridium®) en intraveineuse stricte et de l’ivermectine (Cevamec®) respectivement dans le traitement de la trypanosomose et des parasites gastro-intestinaux chez les ânes en zones endémiques de trypanosomoses. Il a été effectué au Mali du 21 Novembre au 21 Décembre 2014 et a concerné 10 villages des 3 communes de Loulouni. Ces villages sont Kadondougou, Katiorniba, Katogola, Loulouni, N’Dosso, Nièrouani, Woroni et Zanso dans la commune de Loulouni; Katogota pour la commune de Nimbougou et le village de Kaï chef-lieu de commune. L’étude a consisté à faire 3 passages à 2 semaines d’intervalle entre passages dans chacun des 10 villages. Elle a porté sur 278 asins répartis dans les différents villages puis ont été suivis respectivement 253 ânes à J14 et 229 à J28. Au premier passage à J0, les animaux ont été sélectionnés et identifiés. Des prélèvements de sang et de fèces ont été effectués pour les examens parasitologiques du ‘’Buffy Coat’’ (pour la recherche de trypanosomes) et de flottation (pour la recherche des œufs de parasites digestifs). Les cas positifs au Buffy Coat ont été traités à l’isométamidium dilué à 0,5% et administré à la dose de 0,5 mg/kg de poids vif en intraveineuse lente tandis que les ânes dépistés à la flottation ont reçu le Cevamec® en sous cutané. Ces examens et traitements ont été répétés à J14 et J28. A la dernière visite, tous les ânes de départ ont été traités à titre préventif à l’isométamidium, au Cevamec® (dans les mêmes conditions d’usage) puis au Vectoclor® pour limiter les infestations. Au terme de l’étude il ressort que la prévalence des parasites gastro-intestinaux était de 59,71% à J0. Les parasites gastro-intestinaux dépistés étaient essentiellement des strongles (39,21%), des strongyloïdes (19,06%) et des ascaris, très négligeables. L’étude a pu isoler également des coccidies qui sont des protozoaires (3,6%). Le déparasitage au Cevamec® 1% a permis d’évaluer l’efficacité de ce médicament sur ces parasites gastro-intestinaux chez les ânes vivants en milieu rural. De manière spécifique, l’ivermectine par voie parentérale fut efficace à 100% sur les strongyloïdes et les ascaris en une seule injection puis à 84,41% sur les strongles après deux doses au bout de 2 semaines. Mais elle n’avait pas d’effet sur les coccidies. D’une manière générale, nous disons que l’ivermectine à elle seule a permis de contrôler significativement (de 18,34 à 59,71 %) la prévalence des parasites gastrointestinaux chez les ânes au sud du Mali. La prévalence parasitologique de la trypanosomose asine dans la zone de Loulouni était de 1,80% avant la lutte avec une incidence de 0,72%. L’isométamidium a eu une efficacité curative de 100% dans le traitement de la trypanosomose asine causée par T. vivax isolé 4 fois, T. vivax+congolense (2 fois) et T. vivax+congolense+brucei, une seule fois. La solution de chlorure d’isométamidium, administrée en intraveineuse stricte a amélioré l’état général des ânes affectés à travers leur hématocrite et la disparition des pathogènes dans le sang. Elle n’a aussi engendré aucun effet indésirable contrairement à la réaction inflammatoire observée lorsque le produit est utilisé en intramusculaire. Ce qui vérifie notre hypothèse de départ. L’hématocrite moyen de la population d’étude était de 27,64±4,41% et celui des ânes positifs au test de ’’Buffy Coat’’ était de 20,8±7,82% contre 27,33±4,75% chez les sains, indiquant ainsi une différence significative (p=0,0014). Les ânes parasités à J14 présentaient un hématocrite moyen de 26,92±4,55% contre 28,22±3,94% chez les sains avec une différence significative (p=0,0083). Selon l’infection aux strongles à J14, une différence significative (p=0,0086) a été également observée avec des hématocrites moyens de 26,29±5,04% (infectés) et de 28,06±3,94% pour les non infectés. Pour les autres passages (J0 et J28) et les autres groupes de parasites, aucune différence significative n’a été notée entre les hématocrite moyens des malades et sains. L’hématocrite qui reste un bon indicateur de l’état parasitologique chez les ânes, a été nettement amélioré chez les animaux malades le long de l’étude grâce à l’usage de l’isométamidium et ou du Cevamec®.
